Luxury Irish Castle HotelsLuxury accommodations for Ireland self-drive vacations

Ireland has four deluxe castles, two of which are located near the Shannon Airport and perfect to make your last night in Ireland the perfect departing memory -- grand service from the moment you pull up to the incredible breakfast the following morning.

Being treated like a King and Queen for one night comes at a price, rates topping $700 per night during the peak season and as low as $250 per night in the middle of winter. Also, dining at a castle in the evening requires dress clothes including a jacket and/or tie for men therefore you'll want to pack accordingly.

Dinner at these castles is a formal affair, not black-tie, but men should wear a jacket and tie or you may be barred from eating in the dining room. Many of our Deluxe Irish Castles offer a fixed-price menu, just check your price quote for "available options".

Our Irish Country Castles offer a castle stay with a bit less formality and price - allowing more than one castle during your stay in Ireland.

The Waterford Castle was a great experience with good "bar" food. For some reason we got the giggles there and could't stop laughing for 20 minutes. Must have been something in the air? ~ Jason Y. July 2012

Client Comments:

Ashford Castle was very nice and a good choice for the kids. We did falconry and saw a sheep dog demonstration which was more fun for them then just driving around. Being able to walk into Cong was also a plus. Since the castle golf course was just a nine hole par three I felt comfortable with us playing golf as a family - once again the kids enjoyed being a little active. ~ Mary & James B. August 2010

We LOVED Ashford Castle. I surprised my husband with the 2 hour falconry course they offered which was infomative and fun. He loved it! ASHFORD was peaceful (a little highbrow for us) but we enjoyed it none the less. (Our money spent just like the ones driving the Mercedes :-) We chose to eat in the drawing room for dinner instead of 'dress up' and eat in the King George Dining Room. We were the only ones in there and it was delightful and very relaxing. And the food was absolutley wonderful. They had the most spectacular cheesecake for dessert which they served with chocolate covered strawberries and chocolates. Then we went down in the 'Dungeon" (pub) where we enjoyed music by a dark haired Irish lass who song like an angel, and played the Irish harp. We all sang along and my husband sang to me...VERY romantic. Then we were regaled by an older Irish actor/storyteller with stories of some of Ireland famous writers, a scene from a play and a story that captured the spirit of the Irish. It was sweet and wonderful and set th mood for our trip. ~ Debbie N. 2003

Lough Eske CastleNewly renovated castle awaits you in Donegal

Deluxe Lough Eske Castle Hotel

Lough Eske Castle traces its roots all the way back to the late 1400’s and the famous O’Donnell family that founded the nearby town of Donegal.

The original castle was first built around 1474. A date stone of 1621 remains on the property to this day. The current Lough Eske Castle was constructed in the 1860s on the site of an old Brooke mansion, but was destroyed by fire in 1939. Inside, you’ll find attractive open fireplaces and comfortable Drawing Rooms with fabulous views of our beautifully landscaped gardens. You can escape into the quiet seclusion of our Library or wander into the Gallery Bar to meet friends and relax over drinks and light refreshments.

Follow the steps down from the lobby area, and you will discover a Lobby Lounge with an exposed sandstone wall, open fireplace and traditional Chesterfield leather sofas accompanied with coffee tables.

Rooms: Accommodation range from the contemporary stylishness of our Garden Suites…to the country charm of our converted stables…to the more traditional elegance of our Castle Suites with their leaded windows, exquisite antiques and private access to the castle tower.

Dining: The new Cedars Grill combines easygoing elegance with a very contemporary sense of style. The Oak Bar is everything its name suggests, a cozy getaway with stone floors, heavy leather couches, historical black and white photographs and a clubby oak ambiance. The Gallery Bar is the perfect place to meet fellow guests for a pint of Guinness, glass of wine and an informal bite to eat from our Bistro menu.
